Modeling and Optimization of a Micro-Channel Gas Cooler for a Transcritical CO2 Mobile Air-Conditioning System

This study focuses on developing and optimizing of a microchannel gas cooler model for evaluating the performance transcritical CO2 mobile air-conditioning system. A simulation is developed with aid MATLAB R2022a. segment-by-segment modeling approach utilized by applying effectiveness-NTU method. State-of-the-art heat transfer pressure drop correlations are used to obtain air refrigerant side coefficients friction factors. The validated through wide range available experimental data able predict capacity within an acceptable accuracy. average errors 3.79% 10.24%, respectively. Furthermore, parametric optimization method applied optimal exchanger dimensions, including number tubes, ports, passes. Different combinations were selected practical dimensions while keeping total core volume constant. simultaneous effect ports in each tube, passes determined. objective current technique minimize specific design under different operating conditions without changing overall cooler. reduction geometry as compared baseline all about 15%. results from this can be select geometric required minimal need expensive prototype development testing.
